"A new world will emerge, the contours of which are for us to both imagine and to draw. . . Nothing will ever return to the 'broken' sense of normalcy that prevailed prior to the crisis because the coronavirus pandemic marks a fundamental inflection point in our global trajectory."--from the introduction to COVID-19: The Great Reset, by Klaus Schwab and Thierry Malleret

THE FATE OF THE WORLD’S PEOPLES is so intermingled because of our modern inclinations. We have devalued history and our cultural traditions in pursuit of abstract progress, convenience, and materialistic gains. We have turned away from our ancestors’ faith traditions and craftsmanship and also from classical literature and art forms. The latest technological innovations are eagerly embraced by the world’s most powerful people and the populations that follow them. Great distances between people have been bridged by the innovations of electricity, rapid travel, the internet, smart phones, GPS, and social media. Very few would voluntarily give up any of these innovations permanently. One can find remnants that have clung to the old ways, but there is no evidence those ways will ever be prevalent in the world again, just as the Luddites failed to stop the Industrial Revolution.

The rise of the multinational corporation made it both possible and inevitable for most of us to have access to and dependency upon goods and services originating from other parts of the world. This means we can’t escape the impacts of famine, disease, and political upheavals caused by the flow of information or disinformation. We have to rely on the knowledge, plans and innovations of experts if we are to weather the catastrophes linked to the COVID-19 pandemic, or the next catastrophe that will eventually threaten us.

ON THE OTHER HAND, when has elite-controlled central planning produced beneficial outcomes anywhere in the world? It is foolish and dangerous to believe we can escape our flawed human nature by relying upon experts’ worldly remedies. Klaus Schwab, Bill Gates, and Anthony Fauci (and their counterparts among the academic, corporate, and governmental elites) are pridefully self-assured and always looking to advance their own interests. Individual freedom and personal privacy must yield so The Great Reset can “save” us. The elites promote The Great Reset, promising to “build back better” so as to ward off threats to our personal health and the health of the world. We are expected to trust that forced testing, contact tracing, contactless payment and pickup, vaccine passports, and enforced restrictions on individuals’ economic activities and resource allocations can spare us a catastrophic fate.

THE CHAIRMAN, who, like most of us, has embraced many modern innovations, has called for a debate on the topic:

RESOLVED: The Great Reset is the key to the fate of our world.

The Debate will be Wednesday, May 19, 2021 at Burger Moe’s, 242 7th St. W., St. Paul MN 55102.

The Chancellor and Chairman encourage people to arrive prior to 7 PM and to thank our host venue by spending money while partaking of food and drink. The debate will begin at 7:30. Please be responsible and follow current government edicts, as we need to project law-abiding conduct, lest the regulators get too interested in our social gathering. There is no dress code; however, gentlemen who wish to speak must wear a tie; ladies are encouraged to adhere to a similar sartorial standard. For those gentlemen arriving sans tie yet wishing to discourse on the resolution, the Purveyor of Ties will keep on hand several remarkable selections. Questions regarding debate caucus procedures of about the John Adams Society itself may be directed to the Chairman at (651) 494-9008 or Secretary at (651) 398-9316.
