We’ve Got a Golden Rule: Mind Your Own Damn Business.”
˗ Minnesota Governor Tim “Knucklehead” Walz

SELF-SUFFICIENCY IS A TRADITIONAL AMERICAN VALUE. People pulling themselves up by their bootstraps. Neighbors helping neighbors. Mutual aid. If one farmer’s barn is burnt by lightning, 50 more come together to raise a new one.

Likewise, Conservatives embrace subsidiarity, the principle that decisions should always be taken at the lowest possible level, or closest to where they will have their effect. Conservatives know that government is by nature terribly inefficient and ineffective – and the higher the level, the more inefficient and ineffective it becomes. Hundreds of millions of taxpayer dollars that fed no children, and electric chain saws for hurricane victims still in the dark, being just two examples.

ON THE OTHER HAND, what we so coldly call “Acts of God” can result in horrific levels of destruction and human suffering. When the metaphorical “barn” represents several states, aren’t the “neighbors” really the rest of the 50 states? Is Federal response – despite its shortcomings – not the only realistic option at such times?

THE CHAIRMAN, saved from his own strike-induced crisis by an Amazon Same Day Delivery of personal paper product, in the meantime has called a debate to settle the topic:

RESOLVED: Manage Your Own Emergencies.

The Debate will be held on October 16, 2024, at Burger Moe’s, 242 7th St. W., St. Paul, MN 55102.   The Chancellor will preside over drinks beginning at seven o’clock p.m. The debate will begin at half past seven. There is no dress code, however gentlemen who wish to speak must wear a tie; ladies are encouraged to adhere to a similar sartorial standard. For those gentlemen arriving sans tie yet wishing to discourse on the resolution, the Purveyor of Ties will keep on hand several remarkable selections.   In addition, the Chairman encourages all to join him as early as 6:30 pm for a bite to eat. Let us thank our host location for the use of their room in the most sincere way possible – by spending our money. God Bless Free Enterprise!   Questions regarding debate caucus procedures or about the John Adams Society itself may be directed to the Chairman at (281)229-3671 or the Secretary at (651) 485-1699.
